Frequently Asked Questions

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears to promote healing in corresponding organs and areas of the body. It is believed to help with stress relief, relaxation, and overall well-being.

How does reiki work?

Reiki is a Japanese technique that uses energy healing to promote emotional and physical balance. During a reiki session, the practitioner channels energy through their palms into the client's body to remove blockages and restore energy flow. This gentle therapy aims to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support the body's natural healing processes.

What are the benefits of reflexology and Reiki?

Both treatments can help reduce stress, improve sleep, enhance mood, release tension, and promote overall relaxation and wellbeing.

Are the treatments safe?

Yes, reflexology and reiki are non-invasive, gentle treatments suitable for most people, there are a few contraindications for reflexology, however we will run through a full medical history as part of your consulation and I will discuss these with you at that point. Both reflexology and reiki work alongside conventional medicine but are not intended to replace medical care.

What conditions can reflexology and Reiki help with?

Reflexology and Reiki can support a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, sleep problems, and general wellbeing. However, they are not a cure and should complement medical treatment.

Can I combine reflexology and Reiki in one session?

Absolutely! Take a look at the Signature Combination treatments I offer.  Many clients find combining the two treatments offers even greater relaxation and balance. I can tailor your session to your needs.

Do I need to prepare anything before my session?

There's no special preparation needed. Just arrive ready to relax! If possible, try to avoid heavy meals, caffeine or alcohol before your session.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For reflexology, your feet will need to be exposed, so socks and shoes will be removed.

Can I eat before a session?

Yes, but it's best to avoid heavy meals for at least an hour beforehand. A light snack is fine.

What happens during the first consultation?

During your first visit, we'll discuss your health history, lifestyle, and goals for treatment. This helps me tailor the session to your individual needs.

What can I expect during a reflexology session?

You'll lie or sit comfortably while I apply gentle pressure to specific points on your feet, face or hands if needed. It's a soothing process, and many people feel deeply relaxed or even fall asleep.

What happens during a Reiki session?

You'll lie fully clothed on a treatment bed while I lightly place my hands on or near your body. The session is deeply relaxing, and you may feel warmth, tingling, or a gentle flow of energy.

Will I feel anything during Reiki?

Some people feel sensations like warmth, tingling, or waves of relaxation. Others simply feel calm and peaceful. Each experience is unique.

Is it okay if I fall asleep during the treatment?

Absolutely! Falling asleep is common and a sign that your body is responding to the relaxation process.

Will the treatments hurt?

No, both reflexology and Reiki are gentle and non-invasive. Reflexology may involve light pressure and some slightly tender points, but it should always feel comfortable.  I will be guided by you in regards to the level of pressure you prefer.

How will I feel after my session?

Most people feel relaxed, lighter, and more balanced. You might feel energized or sleepy, depending on your body's response.  Some people may experience a mild healing response such as a headache, tiredness or feeling emotional , this is completely normal and will pass.  If you are in any way concerned, please contact me.

Are there any aftercare tips or advice?

Drink plenty of water to help your body flush out toxins and support the healing process. Take it easy for the rest of the day if possible.

How many sessions will I need to see results?

This depends on your goals and individual response. Some clients notice benefits after one session, while others benefit from regular treatments over time.
